The Duchess of Cambridge’s mother, Carole Middleton, has given her first ever interview! Kate’s family has remained very discreet over the years with Carole herself admitting: “Over the years it’s proven, wise not say anything.’ She and her husband, Kate’s father, Michael Middleton, are celebrating their family business’ 30th anniversary. Carole said: ‘I thought I should celebrate a little.’

In the interview for the Telegraph, the mother of the future Queen of England opens up about what is like to be part of the most popular Royal family in the world, how do they celebrate holidays and what her biggest fears are.

“My biggest fear was that I’d lose my family, but we’ve stayed close,” she revealed. “There are times when they say, ‘Can you do this or that?’ and I can’t quite. But they like the fact that I work. I’d like to find space to do more stuff I love, but my family is paramount. They come first and that will always be the case, even when I have more me time.”

Carole also praised Prince William and revealed her hopes that son James will settle down soon. “I have two lovely sons-in-law,” she said. “I hope I’ll have a lovely daughter-in-law.”

The 63-year-old recalls the moment Kate came to her for an advice before her wedding day back in 2011. “We talked about music… everything. I was involved lots with both Pip’s and Catherine’s weddings,” she said. “But I think the most important thing, as a parent, is to listen to what your daughter wants. You can have all the ideas in the world, but it has to be about them. And don’t muscle in on the guest list.”

Carole also revealed her nerves before the wedding: “Like every mother, I wanted to look my best, make my children proud and enjoy the day. I honestly don’t think I was any more stressed than any other mother-of-the-bride.”

Carole told the Telegraph: ‘I’ve recently gone vegan. Or maybe that should be flexitarian. If I go to someone’s house for dinner, I’m not going to make a fuss. For Christmas, I’d probably have two options – very traditional and something vegan.’ Speaking about her Christmas planning, Carole added: ‘Don’t get hung up on perfection. Often it’s the mistakes that make things memorable.’

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to go to the Middletons this year instead of going to Sandringham with the Queen and the rest of the Royal family.

One of the reasons for the Cambridge’s to avoid the royal festivities is a rumored feud with Prince Harry and his pregnant wife Meghan. A royal staff member said that ‘Kate had a quiet word with Meghan’ for being rude to a member of staff, which ‘escalated rapidly after Meghan complained to Harry that she had been “told off”. He took her side, while William defended Kate, who was five months pregnant with Louis and certainly didn’t want this sort of confrontation.’
