This year over 30 of the Queen’s closest family members will celebrate Christmas on her Majesty’s Sandringham estate. Over the years the royal family has grown pretty much that according to sources it is getting harder to find space each of them every year around the holidays. Some of the junior family members have stayed in the servants’ quarters, while others take over cottages on the Norfolk estate.
“Everybody is on parade when they go to Sandringham. This is not a family sitting around having a jolly time relaxing. They are all eyeing each other up and seeing who is up and who is down the pecking order. It’s full of tension.”
Last year Meghan and Harry stayed with Kate and William and the children at s stunning ten-bedroom Georgian pile, for which Harry has gushed that they had a fantastic’ time.
Knowing how relatively limited the space in the Sandringham estate is, it is only natural to think that the Sussexes will stay with the Cambridges again. This Christmas, it was reported by the Mail on Sunday that Harry and Meghan will be housed with the rest of the guests – ‘packed in like sardines’ under the Queen’s roof. While Kate and William will stay at the extensively refurbished, Anmer Hall, which holds ten-bedrooms. Some guests expected to be under the same roof with Meghan and Harry include the Queen’s grandchildren, her nephew, her nephew’s wife, their children, as well as his sister, and her husband.
‘It will all be friendly – there is no way that you are going to be unfriendly to someone on Christmas Day,’ added the insider. ‘Especially when Meghan looks like she is about to have a baby at any minute. All will be smiles.’
A family friend revealed to People magazine recently that Meghan and Kate are two “very different characters.” That’s why there have been rumors that there’s tension between the two. “Wives do change the dynamic, and [Harry and Prince William] both have very strong wives,” a palace insider told the magazine. “If you bring two independent-minded women from the real world into the royal world, they are going to want to have an impact.”
The insider confirmed to the magazine that there was, in fact, an issue between Kate and Meghan just days before Meghan and Harry’s wedding day in May. Several different sources confirmed that there was a lot of stress in the last days before the ceremony.
“There was an argument between Meghan and Kate over the fit of [3-year-old] Princess Charlotte‘s dress,” the source confirms. Another insider adds: “There were very few fittings for the bridesmaids. Everything was left to the last minute, and it was really stressful for everyone involved.” Kate was reportedly “left in tears” after the clash, although the exact reason is unknown.
“Some feathers need to be ruffled,” continued the source. Meghan’s alleged “diva behavior” has created chaos at the palace. Which is considered the reason why Meghan and Harry decided to move away from Kensington Palace. “The most difficult job in the royal family is to work with Meghan’s ambitions and make them realizable,” added another insider.
New reports according to People magazine claim that the Duchess is pretty frustrated with being told “no” a lot of the time.
A source told the magazine that “the palace is a magical place, and it is also a place where all you hear is ‘no, no, no.’ The most difficult job in the royal family is to work with Meghan’s ambitions and make them realizable. She will get frustrated if she is told, ‘You can’t do this or can’t do that.’”
The source adds that Meghan’s aides “might not be used to the ‘say-it-as-you-see-it’ American mentality.”
Earlier this week new reports according to Life and Style magazine, claimed that the Duchess is not easy to get along with at all, in fact, she is reportedly driving everyone crazy at Kensington Palace before she and Harry move to Frogmore Cottage. “Meghan is a perfectionist and gets stressed if things don’t go her way,” a source told the news outlet. “Her diva demands are wreaking havoc at the palace and staff are dropping like flies!”
