Over the last month, rumors, about how difficult and demanding Meghan Markle is, are coming from all directions. She had some of her staff members quitting, claiming that they were“putting up with a lot.”
Now The Sun reports that according to royal experts, when they started living together, Prince William and Kate Middleton have caused a bit of a stir, too. They reportedly broke from some age-old traditions, which eventually lead to some of their staff quitting. In a documentary, William & Kate: The Journey, royal expert, Ashley Pearson, explains that Kate and William wanted to stay away from some old traditions and do things their own way. They didn’t want their children to be spiled.
“Having said that, Kate had broken precedent in the sense that she does more for herself than anyone else in her position has ever done before,” explains Pearson.
“In fact, not long ago, Kate and William’s head housekeeper and head gardener both quit – they were a married couple. It was very controversial because they had actually worked for the Queen previously and then came over to work for Prince William and Kate. There was a lot of speculation at the time that Carole Middleton had been interfering in the housekeeper’s duties, that Kate Middleton was doing a lot for herself and that didn’t sit too well with staff.”
“… Kate is in a difficult position because she didn’t grow up with household servants,” Pearson continued. “She likes to cook, she likes to do things for William, and she very much likes the privacy one gets without servants around.” Royal correspondent Robert Jobson also added: “William, in particular, wants to be a hands-on parent”.
Earlier this week it was announced that Samantha Cohen, who is Meghan’s personal secretary is quitting and leaving Markle’s side. Samantha was one of the Queen’s most trusted employees before moving to work for Meghan and Harry. She was even nicknamed “Samantha the Panther” for her feisty attitude. Cohen has been a communication secretary for the Royal family for 17 years. It was reported that this year one of her main responsibilities was to train Meghan into royal etiquette.
“Her job was highly pressurized and in the end, it became too much. She put up with quite a lot. Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears. She is hugely talented and played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding. She’ll be missed by everyone in the household. Melissa is a total professional and fantastic at her job, but things came to a head and it was easier for them both to go their separate ways.”
Samantha’s leaving comes after another of Meghan’s staff members left her. Melissa Toubati, 39, sensationally resigned just six months after the royal wedding. She reportedly played a “pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding” and left after “putting up with a lot.”
