If you haven’t heard the news of the season – Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together! “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. People magazine’s royal source says that Meghan has had her 12-week scan and is “feeling well.” Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are “delighted” for the couple, the palace says. As are the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public. The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding in person.”

The statement continued: “Ms Doria Ragland is very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”

The Daily Mail reports one slightly awkward part of the news. The couple decided to tell everyone on Princess Eugenie’s wedding day on Windsor on Friday last week. Other members of the royal family were able to congratulate the expecting couple in person during the reception, but it feels a bit off and almost like they pretty much stole Eugenie’s big moment, even though they waited to tell the public two days later.

Throwing a bit of shade on the baby news Duchess Sarah Ferguson decided to post a tweet at the exact same time that Kensington Palace announced the royal baby news. Awkward, but pretty pretty understandable….

The whole morning the mother of the bride has been tweeting about her daughter and congratulating her, which we totally understand, but avoiding to congratulate Prince Harry or Meghan Markle.
