“A mother’s arms are more comforting than anyone else’s.” -Princess Diana.
Meghan Markle is getting heat from all sides – from her father’s explosive interviews to rumored feud with sister-in-law Kate Middleton. Now people are accusing her of being fake and acting too much. The Duchess is pregnant with her first child and she was heavily criticized for cupping her belly too much. Some people on social media called it overly posed, smug and a desperate attention seeking move.
Elaine “Lainey” Lui, who is the founder and Editor of LaineyGossip.com, co-host of CTV’s daytime talk show “The Social”, wrote in her most recent post that she called Meghan’s constant belly touching “obnoxious belly-cupping”. She wrote: “I thought the belly-cupping during the royal tour in Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand was extra. Turns out, for Meghan Markle, that was simply entry-level belly-cupping. Last night at the British Fashion Awards, Royal Meghan took it beyond extra to extreme.”
After all the comments online saying that Meghan “touches her bump too much,” and most of which were saying that “Kate didn’t do that…,” we really want to make people understand that Kate is going to be Queen consort some day. The Royal Family have way higher expectations for Kate than they do for Meghan. Kate fully understands her responsibility as a future queen and understands that there are certain things she can and cannot do. Meghan has it easier since she doesn’t have the future of being Queen like Kate does. She can wear dark nail polish to a *non-royal* engagement, she can dress in a more casual manner, etc. Meghan is not doing anything wrong. Kate and Meghan are 2 separate women that have 2 separate lives. Meghan does not have to follow every move Kate makes and wear the same clothing and such.
There are many reasons why a woman would put a hand over her belly while pregnant. She could even be doing it absentmindedly as a sort of protective gesture. We also have to consider that Meghan is pregnant for the first time. She has been waiting many years for this. She’s allowed to be excited and enthusiastic that she is carrying a baby. There is absolutely nothing wrong with cradling your belly while pregnant. Kate did it and so have many other women.
Scroll down to see all the times Kate touched her baby bump lovingly and we hope that will make the negativity against Meghan would slow down and stop at some point, especially when it comes to her touching her own baby bump.
