“Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she’d have a life like this.”
Ever since going public with her relationship with Prince Harry last year, Meghan Markle has quickly become one of the most recognizable faces in the world. But, as she most likely already found out, great fame comes with an even greater price. In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping, the former First Lady Michelle Obama had some advances for Meghan on how to deal with fame and the pressure and responsibilities that come with it.
“My biggest pieces of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything,” she explained. “I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work,” Michelle revealed.
“I think it’s okay — it’s good, even — to do that. What I’d say is that there’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that — and I think Meghan can maximize her impact for others, as well her own happiness if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally.”
Now that Meghan and Harry are expecting their first child, their lives will become even crazier as they will for sure get even more attention from their fans than usual, which can also mean an even busier schedule.
“It probably won’t come as a surprise to anyone that sometimes it was a real challenge [living in the White House] to keep up with the pace,” she said. “Then on top of the demands of our schedules, I’d usually need to wake up long before Barack to get my hair and make-up done and get dressed for a public event.”
