“Her Majesty was NOT amused at whatever the Duchess said with a smile….”

The British Royal Family is undoubtedly the most famous family in the world. That means that every single move each and everyone of them makes is carefully dissected and analysed. An example for that is yesterday when Kate Middleton stood alongside the Queen on the balcony of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as millions fell silent to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War. The day marked 100 years since the signing of the treaty which ended the battle on the Western Front of the First World War at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

At some point Catherine was seen getting emotional as she was visibly fighting tears back as she watched Prince Charles, William and Harry also pay their respects. She recently learned about her great-grandmother’s three brothers who died in World War I.

What caught a lot of people’s attention, though, was a video that was shared on Instagram. A lot of people thought that in the footage you can see the Duchess of Cambridge trying to engage in a conversation with the Queen, but she simply ignored her.

One user said: “Whatever kate said she’s not amused.” While another added: “The Queen is right, it’s not talking time. It’s time to participate in the ceremony.”

A third one asked: “Why is the queen not smiling back to Kate?” Followed by: “Oh gosh kate darling, I bet K felt like sinking from humiliation. Ouch”

Like in anything else, there’s always two sides to the story, so there were many who came to the Queen’s defence saying: “It’s a Remembrance Day and she would probably be thinking of a lot of sad memories from back in the day.”

“If you would have watched the live streaming you would have seen that the Queen said something to Catherine, smiling, and Catherine answered smiling as well. This video is out if context! And the Queen is not crabby, is just composed!”

“Poor Kate… the Queen doesn’t like her… Meghan is the favourite” oh give over. I watched the whole service on television. The Queen talks to Kate first and smiles with her and then Kate replies, which the video we see here. Simples.”

‘There are protocols and the reason Meghan is not on the Balcony is because her husband is not 1st or 2nd in line to the throne. I would be grumpy standing there for hours at her age. I love our Royals and they are human after all 🙏💕”

Kate wore a black coat with a white collar. The coat is likely a version of a previous McQueen design. The Duchess wore three paper poppies representing her three relatives who fought and died in World War One. She also wore the Royal British Legion’s ‘Women Of The First World War Brooch.’

Kate spoke about her great-grandmother’s experience working as a nurse during WWI, caring for wounded servicemen in a field hospital, during a February visit to St. Thomas’ Hospital in London. “This campaign means a lot to me personally. My great-grandmother and grandmother were both volunteer nurses,” she said in a speech. “They would have learned first-hand from working with the Voluntary Aid Detachment and the Red Cross about the care and compassion that sometimes only nurses can provide.”
