#tbt to THE greatest day of my life

The two got married in October in the same St George Cathedral in Windsor that Meghan and Harry tied the knot in May, while millions were watching.

Her mother Fergie, 59, said of Eugenie’s Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos-designed wedding gown: “My proudest moment was watching Eugenie standing tall, very proud to show her scoliosis scar in her low-backed dress. I’d gone to all the fittings and sat there beaming with delight, and because there was no veil it was a very strong statement.”

Princess Eugenie famously made a powerful statement by completely showing her scars from scoliosis surgery in her wedding day look. She wore a stunning custom Peter Pilotto dress that featured a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full-length train. The low back feature on the dress was at the specific request of Princess Eugenie who had surgery aged 12 to correct scoliosis. She also wore her hair in an updo so the mark wasn’t covered at all.

“We rang St. George’s Chapel to make sure there wasn’t a special rule specifying veils must be worn, but there wasn’t and Eugenie just wanted to be herself,” Fergie expressed. “The tiara, borrowed from granny, danced to her. She was just so radiant. She said, ‘Mum, I thought I was going to get nerves,’ but she didn’t.”

For an interview ahead of the wedding for British network ITV, Eugenie said:”[It’s] a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this,” Eugenie said of the design choice. “I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it’s really special to stand up for that.”

“I always went to weddings and thought, ‘Why is the mother-of-the-bride crying?’ But I completely understand why now,” Fergie admitted. “It’s because it’s so amazing to think your daughter is now grown up, leaving home and starting her own life.”

“She and Jack are just meant to be,” Fergie proudly stated. “He adores her, and now I’ve got a son. He will be the best consort there is, as Prince Albert was to Queen Victoria. I know it will be that sort of love match.”
