It’s the week of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas! The two got married over the weekend in two crazy over the top ceremonies. Now new photos from their Hindu ceremony have surfaced.
They had two main ceremonies – a traditional Hindu one and a Christian one. Priyanka said: “Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day. But I never had a plan about what I wanted it to be.” She added that the two ceremonies in India to celebrate their different backgrounds really meant a lot. “It melted my heart, being able to have two big weddings, in India, with our closest family and friends was unbelievably special.”
For the Hindu wedding, Priyanka, 36, wore a red sari, while Jonas, 26, was dressed in a traditional outfit and turban. The bride looked stunning in a Sabyasachi ensemble.
Priyanka shared with People magazine: “I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life. It was all tears. All tears.”
Nick added that “the emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me. You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional.”
After the Hindu ceremony, the newlyweds were blessed by their family in a special Indian ritual. Chopra shared: “I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up. We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalized them in a way that made sense for us. It’s been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way.”
The couple was joined by some special guests at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi two days after the ceremonies. They celebrated their wedding with family and friends at their first wedding reception. Priyanka and Nick were spotted with the Prime Minister at the reception. The two were so clearly in love, as they simply couldn’t take their eyes away from each other:
