We already knew that being part of the British royals family comes with a lot of responsibilities and a ridiculously strict rulebook. But some of them are bit weirder than others.
The Queen’s former chef Darren McGrady revealed in his new book, ‘Eating Royal,’ that the monarch has some interesting preferences when it comes to food and more specifically – eating a banana. She cuts off the top and the bottom, slices the skin away and chops the fruit up into small pieces and then she eats them with a fork. The reason why she is eating it this way, according to Darren, is because she doesn’t want to be seen chomping away “like a monkey.”
Another interesting fact that the former chef has revealed in the book is that Her Majesty does not eat garlic and that means that absolutely no garlic is served to anyone in her presence…even her husband. “We could never serve garlic to the Queen, but Prince Philip loved it,” he explained. “If we were at Balmoral and she was out, we’d slather his steak in garlic. But when she was at the table, there was no garlic at all. It was seen as anti-social.”
It was said, also, that the Queen’s breakfast is the same every day. Her Majesty has Twinnings’ English breakfast tea with milk and Marie cookies first when she gets up. After her tea, she has a bowl of Corn Flakes, which is served alongside accompaniments such as prunes, apricots, and macadamia nuts.
Maybe we should take notes after all – Her Majesty is above 90 years old and looks amazing!
