Celebrities are coming to the defense of Priyanka Chopra after an article was published by a US magazine that accused her of scamming her husband Nick Jonas into marriage. Chopra and Jonas tied the knot over the weekend in two very emotional ceremonies, followed by a very heavy media coverage.

The article, we are talking about, was published in the US’ ‘The Cut’ magazine and it was written by Mariah Smith. In the piece, the author calls Priyanka a ‘global scam artist’ whose PR machinery was on the lookout for a romance for her. The writer also suggests that Priyanka plans to break Nick’s heart and that he simply wanted ‘a fling’ with an older woman but is now caught up in a ’life sentence’, and it’s also advising him to run away on the horse he arrived at his wedding on.

The writer shamed Chopra for buying expensive things and said that their relationship doesn’t make sense as Nick would want to stay a bachelor at 26 while Priyanka would be looking to settle down at 36.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapur called the piece racist and sexist and disgusting for criticizing Priyanka’s wedding to American singer Nick Jonas.

“For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for. The article on @priyankachopra was sexist, racist and disgusting. Also, it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you!,” Sonam wrote in her tweet.

Sophie Turner slammed the ‘disgusting’ story too, saying:”This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting,” Turner echoed on her account. “Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit.”

Her fiancee and Nick’s brother, Joe Jonas, came to Priyanka’s defense as well. “This is disgusting. @TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words,” Joe tweeted Wednesday. “What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love. Thank u, Next.”

Many other came to Priyanka’s defense and expressed their thoughts on the article. Scroll down to see some of them:

There were comments under the article attacking the author and calling the post ‘pathetic” and “disgusting” :

Eventually, after all the heat they got, the magazine was forced to remove the article and apologized for it.
