Rami Malek won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama for his portrayal of music icon Freddie Mercury in biopic Bohemian Rhapsody! He was joined on stage by Queen legends Brian May and Roger Taylor, who proudly posed for photos with Rami.

The film itself also won the award for Best Drama at the awards show, so they had had two MAJOR reasons to celebrate.

“Oh my god, I am beyond moved,” Malek said at the podium after accepting the award. “My heart is pounding out of my chest. This is a profound honor to be counted among such extraordinary actors, I am privileged. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press and to everyone who worked so tirelessly on this film. I have to thank [producers] Graham King and Denis O’Sullivan, you’ve worked over a decade to make sure this story was told. Thank you to 20th Century Fox, you believed in us.”

“I have to thank my mom and my family,” Malek continued. “Of course, to Queen. To you, Brian May, to you, Roger Taylor, for ensuring that authenticity remains in the world. Thank you to Freddie Mercury, for giving me the joy of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man. This is for and because of you, gorgeous!”

Rami was joined by his Bohemian Rhapsody co-star, and girlfriend, Lucy Boynton who looked sensational in a shimmering gold gown by Celine. Later on, Rami couldn’t help but kiss Lucy at the FOX Golden Globes After Party.

Lucy, who plays Freddie’s love of his life in the epic movie, held onto Rami’s hand and smiled brightly as she celebrated his win.

Throughout the whole night, the couple was seen embracing each other warmly. They have been together for about a year now, but it wasn’t until last week when Rami publicly confirmed that they are dating.

After winning the Best Actor trophy at the Palm Springs International Film Festival last week, Malik confirmed the rumors that he’s been dating his co-star Lucy during his acceptance speech. “I’m just really honored to be here, so thank you to the Palm Springs Film Festival. It’s a privilege, it’s not lost on me and I’m so appreciative,” he said while accepting the Breakthrough Artist Award. He concluded by saying, “Thank you, Lucy Boynton. You have been my ally, my confidant, my love. Thank you so much.”

The movie is the highest-grossing music biopic of all time and won the Golden Globe for Best Picture, Drama. “Bohemian Rhapsody” chronicles the rise of legendary rock band Queen, with Malek starring as frontman Freddie Mercury. In order to transform into Mercury, Malek sports prosthetic teeth and intensely studied some of Mercury’s most iconic performances in order to nail the singer’s physicality.
